Rolling Arrays’ 2nd Annual Gathering: A Night of Insight, Connection, and Future-Forward Discussions
13th March, 2025 Malaysia
Rolling Arrays recently celebrated its 2nd Annual Gathering, a memorable Iftar event held at the prestigious JW Marriott’s Tarbush Gourmet Restaurant. The evening was a resounding success, filled with insightful discussions, strengthened connections, and a palpable sense of community.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all our esteemed attendees who graced us with their presence. Your participation was the cornerstone of the event’s success, reinforcing the valuable relationships we cherish.
A highlight of the evening was the captivating presentations by our distinguished speakers: Encik Farid Basir, Fong Tuan, and Sunesh Rodrigo. Their expertise and perspectives on the evolving landscape of HR, the human element, and the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) offered invaluable insights.
Key takeaways from the expert speakers included:
Encik Farid Basir:
- Advocating for a synergy between humans and AI. Since its inception in the 1950s, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has evolved through distinct phases—AI 1.0, based on rule-based systems; AI 2.0, driven by machine learning; and the current AI 3.0, leveraging deep learning to process vast amounts of data. Despite its long history, AI has gained significant attention only recently due to its seamless integration into daily life. Looking ahead, AI is expected to become even more powerful, particularly in personalized learning and talent acquisition areas, revolutionizing how individuals learn and organizations identify top talents.
Fong Tuan:
- We are not far from AI, but our jobs are. In the past, analytics was seen as the future—using data to gain insights for better decision-making. Yet, despite having more data than ever, many organizations still fail to act on it. And now, we talk about AI as the next big thing. That poses challenges. Instead of just talking about AI, we must first master the fundamentals. Think about AI that helps you hire, pay, and even fire better—yet, few discuss the last one.
- As HR is in the business of people. While learning, development, and engagement are essential, rewards remain the most critical yet underutilized area for technology, this area is deeply personal, tied to livelihoods, and reflects an organization’s commitment to performance-based pay.
- We won’t lose jobs to technology—we’ll lose them to those who know how to leverage AI for maximum value. The future may see rewards and salary structures vanish. No standardized processes, weightages, or KPIs—performance will be a choice. Promotions, internal equity, and market benchmarking will disappear as compensation becomes fully customized to individual contributions. The era of Human+ is here.
Sunesh:
- Technology enables better decision-making, even in difficult tasks like firing. AI is not here to replace jobs but to enhance efficiency, allowing people to work smarter. It won’t take over what HR does—it will help HR do it better.
- For too long, HR has been bogged down with administrative tasks—validating receipts, issuing contracts, double-checking claims, and ensuring formatting is correct. Now, AI frees HR to focus on what truly matters: hiring, firing, and everything in between, with greater precision and impact.
- As someone building AI-first technology, I believe the power should shift from vendors to customers. Security is a crucial aspect of AI—who you allow in determines how augmentation evolves.
- We are entering a transformation phase with AI. Basing it from Rogers’ Diffusion Curve, right now, innovators are leading. In the next year, early adopters will drive AI’s practical use. Ultimately, this shift will all give us extra time to focus on what we truly love beyond work.
Reinforcing Long-Term Partnerships:
This gathering reaffirmed the value of long-term relationships. We were honored to have the continued support of our loyal customers, including Bank Islam, PPB Group, HRD Corporation, Credit Guarantee Corporation, and UMW, some of whom have been with us for over five years.
To our new connections, we hope this event demonstrated our unwavering commitment to fostering long-term partnerships, ensuring business continuity, and prioritizing genuine care for people.
Looking Ahead:
We are excited about the future and look forward to creating many more memorable moments together. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We eagerly anticipate seeing you again soon!
